Halong bay or Ninhbinh - Which one is better to visit while in Vietnam?
We have had this question so many times so far. Our answer is "Same - same but Different". The same is all karst limestone landscapes in Halong bay and Ninhbinh. The difference: the karst limestone islands and mountains in Halong bay coming up from the sea water, but those in Trangan - Tamcoc - Van Long - Thung Nang - Thung Nham in Ninhbinh coming up from the river water. The karst limestone scenery of the two is all so amazing with beautiful caves and naturally shaped mountains. It is hard to say which one is more beautiful indeed.
Furthermore, we can share with you another different experience: you will explore the karst limestone mountains In Halong bay by overnight cruises like floating hotels run by engines but you will explore the karst limestone mountains in Ninhbinh ( Trangan - Tamcoc - Vanlong - Thung Nham...) by sampans rowed by local people. Then, you can stay at luxury hotels in Ninhbinh.
Both Halong bay and Trangan complex in Ninhbinh have been voted as UNESCO Natural Heritage Sites. Also is Trangan voted UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site where the former capital was built inside and the local people are now living inside the heritage site, too.
