There are many emails from Carl Johan Andersen on the 2nd time booking their North Vietnam tour package with us for 16 friends from Norway. After the 1st Hanoi travel package with us, I sent him an email to get his feedback and a review on tripadvisor.com if possible.

Hello agian..and how are you?
I hope you remember me?Carl Johan , Friends of Ole..the Danish man. Me and Tommy visit Hanoi in end of october last year. As I told you, I want to make a new North Vietnam trip with friends to Hanoi in 2013.

I have already started the planning and I hope you can help me and be our man in Hanoi..guide and so on? I need som prises and help so I will know how much it will cost pr.pers. I think I will bring around 18-20 friends with me.

My plan is: We have departure from Norway20 march 2013 and arrival Hanoi on Thursday the 21 th of march 2013.

I want to stay in Intercontinental Hotel near the lake incl breakfast . Then on Friday we leave for Mai Chau from friday the 22 - sunday 24 of march and stay in the lodge/hotel and have the guiding tours on the fields and so on.. On sunday the 24 of march we drive back to Intercontinental hotel in Hanoi, and stay there for 3 more nights.until wednesday.

On monday the 25th I want the city tour in Hanoi...and as we do last time..first visit the porcelain city and then guiding in Hanoi.

On thuesday the 26th we take the tour to the perfume temple and make a stop in the Silk city as we do last time.

Then on wednesday the 27th we leave the Intercontinental hotel and go for the Cruise in Halong Bay for 2 nights. The same boat we have last time.

On friday the 29th of march we drive back to the Intercontinental Hotel and stay there for two nights and we will have departure from Hanoi Sunday evening.

So please try to get me prices for Hotel incl breakfast. All the trips I have writting incl transport with buss/ busses, incl transfer airport/ Hotel t/r and the Halong Bay Cruises and you as our guide.

Thank you for e-mail. First of all...the date you write is not right?? As I said in my first mail..the plan is arrival Hanoi Thursday 21th of march 2013 and departure Sunday the 31 of march 2013.

I think it will to much buss driving if we take Mai Chau and Halong Bay and then Perfume Pagoda as you suggest. I know after my program it will be first one night in Hotel Intercontinental (Thursday-Friday) the Mai Chau ( friday-sunday) then back to the hotel Intercontinental sunday until wedenesday etc etc, but I think it will be the best as I suggested. I want also as I suggested, the last week-end in Hanoi in Hotel Intercontinental.

I also wish that we can have place for luggage in Hotel Intercontinental, the days/nihts we are in Mai Chau and in Halong Bay. We dont need the big suitcases on the trips, just the small ones.

I hope you agree? I want the price for all nights(total 6 nights, 1+3+2) incl breakfast pr.pers in dbl room. Also the other prices in Maj Chau, 2 night cruises in Halong Bay and so on(Perfume Pagoda, Hanoi City tours and sallery for guiding.

Hi again and thank you for the e-mail. The program looks ok, but I have some questions about it and also something about the prices. About prices I have to know some details. I have to know the price you got in the hotel Intercontinental for the room..how much for one room incl breakfast pr. night? next. How much for the cruise..to nights pr.pers and last..how much for the Mai Chau trip?

So some questions about the program. You said that food mentinoed in the progam are incl, but what about lunch and dinner in Maj Chau. Last year we have dinner the 1 day..breakfast , lunch, dinner day 2 ..and breakfast..lunch day 3.incl. I have to ask what and where are Xa Linh,...its far away from Mai Chau? About the sightseeing in Hanoi...you have Ho chi Minh complex....is it very ok to visit or is that a place people can vist alone when they have freetime f.exc the last weekend? What about the prison we visit together with you last year...i think we all have to go there...agree?

About the cruise...is it the same boat we have with you last year ? and wich category is the cabins? What about tip?.....is the tip incl for all for the whole program for all people involved..you...the woman in the boat on the river to perfume pagoda etc...etc?

And my last question..did you get a rom for our luggage in the hotel when we are in Hlaong Bay and also in Mai Chau? ( we dont need everything..not the big suitcases on Mai Chau - Halong bay trips).

- Yes, Food included as you say. Please see the file of the tour again for the update information about the food included in Mai Chau tour.
- Xalinh is about 30km from Mai Chau.
- See the prison in Hanoi as you say.
- Yes, Indochina sails cruise you stayed last year.
- Yes, you can leave your luggage in the hotel and just bring small bags for Halong tour and Maichau tour.
- the total price for the hotels and cruise you can see now is for 2012 and they will increase a little for 2013( the time you travel). It depends on high season or low season. It is a good price for the time you travel.

As said...my group is just my friends..so no profit for me. That the reson for all my questions. You know..I want to make the best Vietnam trip package for my friends and for a good price. I think the Vietnam tour itinerary is very good if you agree?

I have some questions again , so I dont misunderstand you. Example in Mai Chau..about food....we got lunch and dinner in the lodgje the 1st day? Only breakfast the 3th day or get we also lunch after visiting the local marked and after check out?

What about lunch day 2 in Mai Chau..is that in the lodge or in Xa Linh? You write that we will have brunch on return from Halong Bay to Hanoi..where? And we will have the bus for departure from hotel to the airport the last day/ evening?

Is it ok that we can have late check out the last day? at ....??? o clock? Will you as our guide be with us the whole time..on all tours...Maj Chau....Halong Bay or not? The temple of litterature....is that the temple in the sea?

And I want to know to things more....the room in Hotel..is that with the view over the sea? Which sort of cabin will we have on the cruiseboat? 1 or 2 deck? Thank you a lot for all your work for answer my questions.

- I will be your guide for the whole Vietnam trip.
- You have me and the bus to take you to the airport for the last day.
- Temple of literature is the first university in Vietnam( I think we visited it last time)
- For the food in Mai Chau, We will have lunches and dinners in different families in Lac Village and Phom Con Village. They are professional in term of serving tourists and your friends have chances to taste different ways of cooking by Vietnamese people. We always do this. Sure, they will like.
- For the 3 day of your Vietnam holiday, after visiting the market and local village, we check out at 10:00 am and drive back to Hanoi. So, no lunch on that day.
- For The brunch on Halong bay tour, you will have on the Indochina Sails before check out and drive back to Hanoi.
- Hotel room is Hanoi view and Room on cruise is on 1st deck. - For late check out, we have no guarantee. It depends on that day. Their customers come early ornot. As normal, we have to check out before 12:00.
- What time is your flight departure?

Thank you very much for th e-mail. I like what you write...about having dinner and lunches in private homes....in Mai Chau. We dont visiting the temple of litterature last year..but I think it will be nice. is that better then the temple in the sea in Hanoi?

I also hear about the show - the puppet show in water...the dolls..is that nice and is it every evening? Maybe will should see that?

About flight.. I will come back..because its to early..maximun 10 months before we can get a price...so if you have a good price for flight ticket i will be happy to know.

Because you told me that you want to do the same as the last time for the city tour so I made the tour programme as we did last time. Definitely, water puppet is worth to see. The puppets dance beautifully on the serface of water. It is only in Vietnam. One more thing, I recommend you and your friends to do is three-wheel cylcing tour around the old 36 streets. both of them cost little but amazing experience. What do you think?

- The 3 wheel cycling is as the photos in the file attached. Please see and tell me if you would like or not.

- It is better to confirm the number of people for Vietnam travel package in 45days. the only thing I find difficult is that there is one hotel in Mai Chau. Maybe other tour groups also want to book the hotel, so we can not have enough rooms.

- About payment, you have to deposit 40 percent for the tour package and the rest you can pay in cash when you arrival in Hanoi.

I dont understand what you mean about time for confirming when do we have to confirm..date? And when(date) do we have to pay the deposit? How can I pay deposit.creditcard?

About the Hotel in Maj Chau. Can you take a phone call and ask them now about room at that specific dates?

If the group will be smaller....not as many as 18 people...will we then have a smaller buss...and will the price totally pr pers be lower or higher?

Do you get a price for tickets from Norway to Hanoi?

I will go the the north in Norway tomorrow...and stay there for 10 days...so I maybe will not get acess to internett and e-mail, but I will check here tomorrow morning...that will be about 16 hours from now.

I am sorry for the late answer just because I have to talk with the boat general manager. - The price for group of 14 people is USD(using 25 seat bus) and USD(using 45 seat bus).

We normally use the 25 seat bus for group under 12 tourists, so it would be uncomfortable for your group for long drive.

These are how we use the transportation: 4 to 7 seat car for group of 2; 16 seat van for group from 3 to 6 tourists. 25 seat bus for group from 7 to 11 tourists. And from 12 tourists we use 45 seat bus.

- For the boat, I book Indochina Sails but can not guarantee which one because it depends on how many people join 3day halong bay tour on that day and they decise which cruises to use. So, they can use all the rooms. If we want that boat, we have to book the whole boat.

All the Indochina Sails are Excellent quality. You will have special time in Halong bay. - I can send you the service confirmation and the paper related to booking hotels and cruise.

Will the total price then be .- usd pr pers then? And about the boat..i hope and I will write to the manager on Indochina sails and ask for the boat premium i think the name was on the boat.

I think the price now is a little bit high...you said the prise if we where 18 persons will be USD pr.pers Now it will be USD that is 83 USD pr .pers more just because we are 4 less persons. That is 1.162 USD more?? Why?

Yes, we have only 4 less people for 1day. However, for 10 days Vietnam vacation packages, we have 40 less people in term of bus, tour guide...............

For perfume pagoda tour package, I book 3 boats fora group of 18 people. Now, I still have to book 3 boats for a group of 14 people.

For hotel policy, from 4 rooms to 8 rooms, I have good price. However, from 9 to 14 rooms, I have a better price and from 15 to 20 rooms, I will have a much more better price. If you have any questions, please feel free to inform me.

Hi again.... How much is the deposit and when do i have to pay..is it deposit for international Hotel in hanoi..the lodge in Mai Chau and for the cruise boat??

May be it will be two more people on our Vietnam tour, I will get the answer in few days and then tell you.

I have started to check about flight tickets and maybe we dont have departure before Monday the 1st of April in the afternoon / evening. We will then need one more night in the hotel in Hanoi International. Will you get a nice price for the last night you think? And again...I reget so much about the misunderstanding.

I confirm that we will come as I have told you to Hanoi in March 2013. Arrival 21th of March...and have departure I think , not before Monday the 1th of April. Its depents of the flight departure. As I said .then we will need one more night in Intercontinental Hotel Hanoi from Sunday until Monday the 1st of April.....I hope you get a very good price for the last night?

I also confirm the we will be 14persons...all in dbl room and in dbl cabin for the cruise, but ONE room/ cabin must have TWIN BEDS. So 6 dbl rom/cabins and 1 twin beds room/cabin.

I still work with the flight tickets. So please let me know how and where I send the deposit and when I have payed..you send me the confirming from hotels,cruisecompany etc. I also want you to set up the program so I can send it to my friends...and remember....we also want to see the water puppet show.

You have to give me some days..minimum one week, so can get the money from my friends to my account and then I send the deposit.

We all look forward to visit Hanoi and to have the "best" man..guide in Hanoi....YOU...Thank you a lot for all the work you have done for me/ us.

I'm a little bit sorry for late answer, but it is because of the flight tickets. I have just confirmed the tickets..and I'm so happy about the flights time/ scedule to Hanoi - Vietnam and the good prices. We will take Vietnam Airlines from Europe to Hanoi,so we just have one stop on the tour. We will have arrival in Hanoi on 21th of March at 06.45 and have departure 31th of March at 23.25.

I have some more questions about our Vietnam tour programme . Since we arrival so early in the morning we drive directly to the hotel..have breakfast there and then check in? What will the price be for the breakfast?

Since we don't have any programme on thursday the 21 of March..what about to take the city tour after check in hotel 1/2 day..and the rest of the program for Monday the 25th of March...the Bat Trang village after lunch and in evening the water puppet show? Then we have a day off on Monday the 25 of March. I think its a good idea, because we on sunday have the 24th drive the long way from Mai Chau back to Hanoi..and on Thuesday we have the tour to the perfume pagoda as you said in our Vietnam package tour. I also wait for instruction for paying the deposit to you and then you send me the confirm for hotels, Crusie and so on.

Me and my friends really look forward to seeing you in Hanoi and have this nice trip in Vietnam...no it is "just" a 10 months left for departure:-)

As you know, the check-out is before 12:00 at noon and the check-in is at 14:00. It is an international law for all hotels around the world. At that time, it is very very high season and the chance to have check-in when we arrive is really small if we do not book early check in. The hotel will charge one night for early check-in because they have to keep the rooms.

The idea to have 1/2 day city tour is not good as my experience so far. They will be so tired after a long flight and different time zone. Please think about what I have said.

I agree with you about the early check in..we don't pay for extra night...so we wait until we can check in. The luggage room we have in hotel..is just for the nights we are in Mai Chau and on the cruise in Halong Bay..right?

I think we have to do something when we arrival to Hanoi in the morning 21th of March. We can not drive to hotel and wait for check in, so we have do something..ex as I said...half day..drive from airport to the City..take the city tour and eat lunch in the city before we drive to hotel around 14 o clock. So i want to have the program as I said in my last e-mail...its also good to walk a little after sitting in the plane the hole night. So please send me the program with the changes my friend.

- The bus pick up you and group from the airport. Then, drive to the hotel for change clothes...... and The same bus take us to see the city tour with the places in the new Vietnam Itinerary. Then, the bus take us back to the hotel about 12:00( I think the rooms are available at that time). If you and your friends want to have lunch at a local restaurant, I will ask the driver to take us to the restaurant nearby the hotel and after lunch we can walk back to the hotel about 10 minutes walking.

- You have to pay total USD extra for the bus because we use only half day in the morning of 21/3 and half day in the afternoon of 25/3. So we use 2 half days for 2 different days. The bus may not have job on the afternoon of 21st March and the morning of 25th March. If we use 1 full day from morning to afternoon, It will be cheaper. Do you anderstand why we have to pay USD extra?

They are sea-food restaurant, Mandarin restaurant.... I have got emails from the hotels that my bookings are invalid the day after tomorrow. I have tried to rebook with them and I am not sure if any others got my position. Please think about the deposit for the Vietnam trip. This is attached the company bank account.

The local market opens everyday just 5minute walking from Maichau lodge hotel. It takes about 2 and a half hour drive from Hanoi to Maichau.

- I arranged a great farewell dinner for Mr. Choiphusy and their friends' families(13 people) at Phu Son Royal restaurant in Bac Ninh province. They joined also 3day halong bay tour and on the last day from Halong bay to Noibai aiport to fly home, they had this farewell dinner. I will ask you my friend to change the program/ write the new one as it no is, incl. the new half day of citytours you offer for free or will the other visit to the villiage with the small streets etc be better to do? It looks very interesting when I saw the links..picture you send me.

About breakfast in Hotel the first day..I think it is a little bit expensive..and when will we arrival the hotel in the morning you think? We arrival 06.45 in the morning...the passportcontrolle, luggage, etc and then the buss to hotel. Maybe its better and cheaper to drive to the hotel with the luggage..change for summer clothes and then start the city tour and have a early lunch? We got some light breakfastmeal on the flight also you know.

About restaurants..dinner and so on the other days...its ok that i come back to you after the summer here in Norway..and write to you ex in september?

I have been in the La Badiane Restaurant 10 nam Ngu Strees. Hoan Kiem district in Hanoi..the food was exelent. I send a E-mail long time ago to them, but they dont answer. I want maby to have our last dinner there..saturday evening. Is it possible for you to get the prises for the evening gastronomic menu and the Degustation menu for 16 pers.? On thuesday I want to have dinner at a restaurant I dont know the name of, but it is an Czeck republick restuarant..you know wich I mean? Dinner at 19.30

And t last..at saturday the 30th of march dinner at La Badiane restaurant at 19.30. I want you to check prises..3 courses dinner.....at all restaurants..and everybody order the drinks by them selfes.

2/ La Badiane restaurant is excellent

So... If we take Wild Lotus on thursday evening the 21th of march at 1930...3 courses....set menu.... And the last evening ..Saturday the 30th of march in La Badiane restaurant..and take the Degustation Set Menu....then you can choice the other restaurants for the days we want dinner....lunch. All dinner , exept La Badiane....is 3 or 4 courses. set menu I think it will be ok to have set menu....and everybody order and pay the drinks themselfes.. agree?

Please get the prices for set menu and what sort of food. I know they have very good salats in Wild Lotus...maybe that will be nice as a starter?

Just to inform you...I will not be om E-mail / Internett this week..I m going to Gran Canaria for holiday...so i be back on internett next saturday the 28th of january.

I remember the good salats they have in Hanoi, incl the Wild Lotus Restaurant. so i think god salats or soup are best for starters. The beef or chicken for main courses ( not fish) and then some good dessert.As I said I want the drinks (beer, wine ..etc) should be order and paid individually.

I also want as I said to see the great menu from La Badiane restaurants.and the price. ( 5 or 7 courses)

So other questions my friend :-) . Will you be with us the hole time exept when we have freetime.. You are with us on board Indochina sails? In Mai Chau etc?

If we want f.exc transport from hotel in Hanoi to Restaurant and back to the hotel after dinner..is it possible for us to have our buss and driver...what will the price be....or is it more easy and cheap for us to use taxi?

If some of my friends want to get photos painted....we have to visit the painter on thursday the 21th of march. They bring with them photos and take a talk with the painter about prices and so one.

Can you remember that you take Tommy and me to a shop / a place in a cellar where the make lack works, using eggs from duck, mother of pearl and so on? It will be grat to see the production for my friends.

And about the factory we vist making keramic....porcelan....we vist the small family factory, but also the big factory....with the great outside park..water and so on. I hope we are going to visit both?

You also take us to a shop in Hanoi where handicap people make nice pictures....of silk....embroider......will you also take us there? Is it something yoy want me to take with me from norway to you and your family? Are you married and have children...age?

If you do not want to bring a big amount of money with you, you can wire the money to my bank account. - It is a good idea to have the trip in the afternoon of 30th March because you have to check out at 12:00. The trip takes about 4hours. You should take all the luggage on the bus when we leave the hotel. We should be at the airport at 21:00 pm. - The tour cost 20 USD/person including bus, entrance fees, guide. Lunch is 16USD/person. - You should not bring smoked salmon because you may get difficulty with airline laws. A book with photos about your country is nice to me. My kids love chocalade. - We will have a big bus, so we will have a driver and a supporter(who helps to put luggage and care the bus....).
